Growing your own avocado at home is surprisingly simple—and you don’t need a big garden. With just a seed and a pot, you can start your own mini avocado tree right on your balcony or indoors.

 Step 1: Prepare the Seed

Remove the seed from a ripe avocado.

Wash it gently (don’t remove the brown skin).

Identify the top (pointy) and bottom (flat).

 Step 2: Germinate in Water

Insert 3–4 toothpicks into the seed.

Suspend it over a glass of water (bottom submerged).

Place it in a warm, sunny spot.

Change the water every 2–3 days.

 In 2–6 weeks, roots and a sprout will appear.

 Step 3: Transfer to Soil

Once the stem is about 15–20 cm tall, plant it in a pot.

Use well-draining soil.

Keep half of the seed above the soil.

 Step 4: Care Tips

Place in bright, indirect sunlight.

Water regularly, but avoid overwatering.

Trim the plant when it gets tall to encourage bushy growth.

Avocados love warmth—protect from cold weather.

Be patient: fruiting can take years (and may not happen indoors).
