How Israel hacked surveillance cameras in Iran to prepare the attack against the Supreme Leader

Prior to the strike that killed Iran’s supreme leader, Israeli intelligence reportedly monitored the regime’s movements in Tehran for months. This operation was made possible by hacking into the capital’s traffic camera network.

The attack was planned using the city’s surveillance cameras, not satellites. In its war with Iran , Israel managed to hack almost the entire network of traffic cameras in the Iranian capital for several years, according to a Financial Times investigation reported by La Dépêche . In fact, every video from these cameras was intercepted, then encrypted and sent to servers under Israeli control.

But one camera in particular was used in the attack that killed the Iranian supreme leader. It was located on Rue Pasteur, near the building where he lived, and allowed observation of the movements of his bodyguards, visitors, and drivers.
