Beloved TV star dies of cancer aged just 61

A veteran Canadian journalist, Thomson built a long and respected career in broadcast news, becoming a familiar face to viewers over more than three decades. She worked across major networks, including CTV News Toronto, where she served as both reporter and CTV News Channel anchor, and earlier at Global News from 1997 to 2003.

Her work also included a prominent role on the morning program Canada AM, where she helped shape daily news coverage for national audiences. Over the years, she became known for her ability to handle both breaking news and in-depth interviews with clarity and professionalism.
