Blue Ivy breaks strict Met Gala rule as she struts red carpet with Beyoncé

The Met Gala’s under-18 policy

In 2018, the Met Gala introduced an age restriction, limiting attendance to those aged 18 and older.

At the time, a spokesperson explained that “it’s not an appropriate event for people under 18,” aligning the rule with the nature of the event and its late-night setting.

Since then, the policy has remained in place, making Blue Ivy’s appearance stand out even more. While the event is known for its exclusivity, it is not immune to exceptions, particularly in moments tied to major figures in fashion and entertainment.

According to E! News, it is “likely” that an exception was made this year, with Beyoncé co-chairing the event alongside Nicole Kidman, who also arrived at the bash with her 17-year-old daughter Sunday Rose.

Adding some clarity, the outlet reported in 2025 that “there seems to be a loophole for the younger fashionistas in Hollywood: A minor may tag along if their parents are in attendance.”
