The earthquake’s epicenter lay just 10 kilometers beneath the surface, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, sending tremors felt across southern China, northern Thailand, and parts of Myanmar. The devastating impact was not limited to its immediate epicenter; major cities in northern Thailand such as Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai were also severely affected, with residents fleeing for their lives.
