My sister-in-law cooked ground beef last night, but she didn’t wash it. I couldn’t eat it and kept the children away from it too. I always wash ground beef before cooking it. I can’t believe she didn’t. Shouldn’t you wash ground beef before cooking it?

What can be done to ensure that minced meat is consumed safely?

  • The meat must be cooked thoroughly    : minced beef should be cooked completely, have no pink spots and a core temperature of about    70 °C   .

  • Pay attention to hygiene in the kitchen    : Wash your hands before and after preparing food, and thoroughly clean surfaces and utensils.

  • Store meat properly    : in the refrigerator (0–4 °C) and consume quickly or freeze if necessary.

Why is ground beef more sensitive?

When mincing meat, bacteria on the surface can    penetrate the interior  . Therefore, unlike some whole cuts of meat, minced beef should always be cooked thoroughly before consumption.

In summary

Minced meat should never be washed before cooking.
The only safe way to consume it is    to cook it thoroughly    and to follow standard kitchen hygiene practices.
