Today my daughter gave me her little wings to keep me safe at work 🪽

It’s easy to get caught up in routine. To wake up, go to work, and focus only on the task in front of you. But sometimes, it takes a small moment—something pure and unexpected—to remind you of the bigger picture. For me, that reminder came in the form of a child’s imagination and love.

Those wings are more than just a symbol. They represent someone waiting for me to come home. Someone who believes I’m strong, capable, and worth protecting. And that changes everything.

When you’re working in a high-risk environment, mindset matters just as much as skill. Fear can either sharpen your focus or cloud your judgment. Confidence can either steady your hands or make you careless. But love—that’s different. Love grounds you. It reminds you what truly matters. It keeps you careful, aware, and present.

I find myself double-checking everything today. Not out of fear, but out of responsibility. Not just for myself, but for her. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about how high I climbed or how much work I got done. It’s about going back home safely.

There’s something powerful about the way children see the world. They don’t overcomplicate things. They don’t think in terms of probabilities or risks. They believe in simple truths: that love protects, that small things can have big power, that the people they care about will be okay.

And maybe, just maybe, there’s something we can learn from that.

We spend so much time relying on logic, on systems, on what we can measure and control. And while those things are essential—especially in dangerous jobs—they aren’t the only things that keep us going. Sometimes, it’s the emotional connections, the invisible threads that tie us to the people we love, that make the biggest difference.

Up here, with nothing but open space around me, I don’t feel alone. I feel connected. Grounded, even at this height. Because those little wings carry more than imagination—they carry a reason.

A reason to stay focused.
A reason to be careful.
A reason to come back down.

It’s easy for people to overlook these small gestures. To see them as cute or symbolic but not truly meaningful. But today, I can say with complete honesty—they matter. More than we realize.

Because at the end of the day, safety isn’t just about equipment or procedures. It’s about mindset. It’s about awareness. It’s about remembering that someone is counting on you.
